Exoticism in Music II

Albert Gleizes, Portrait de Florent Schmitt (Le Pianiste)

Invencia invites you to a recital in the acoustically tuned setting of the Reformation Lutheran Church, Newport News, Virginia.

As a part of the Learning and Living Celebration for September, Invencia Piano Duo perform pieces evocative of the exoticism found in music.

Including works by Schumann, Schmitt, Bowles and Tchaikovsky, the performance will begin at 4:00PM.

The program will feature the premiere performance of Dr. Andrey Kasparov’s original treatment for piano duet of “Blue Mountain Ballads” by Paul Bowles. Also on the bill is Dr. Kasparov’s equally enlightening arrangement for piano duo of the Divertissement from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker”.

These masterworks will be further augmented by Robert Schumann’s Six Impromptus, Bilder aus Osten, Op. 66, and Une semaine du petit elfe Ferme-l’oeil, Op. 58, by Florent Schmitt.
